CEPICI took part in the 2nd edition of Ivorian Diaspora Forum at Sofitel Hotel Ivoire in Abidjan on 22 and 23 May 2017, under the theme: "Ivorian Diaspora, 32nd region of Côte d'Ivoire. What are the African responses to the challenges of illegal immigration? ".

This second edition effectively chaired by the Prime Minister, Amadou Gon Coulibaly, was a platform for discussions and exchanges aiming to adopt a migration policy and provide assistance as well as support services to the people wishing to return home.

In his address, the Prime Minister, noted that it is a priority for the government to support the diaspora. Estimated at 1.2 million over the world, or 5.4 percent of the Ivorian population, they are an invaluable asset for the country.

The Prime Minister therefore urged those immigrants to bring back their skills at home for the benefit of the nation while presenting job opportunities and investment opportunities in multi-faceted partnerships offered by the Government.

In the same vein, the Managing Director of CEPICI, Emmanuel Essis, made a presentation on the reforms carried out in terms of business facilitation and the support mechanism provided by CEPICI.

He also mentioned that the financial transfers of emigrants are very high but the cash flow for investment remain very low. This forum is therefore a good opportunity to raise awareness on the issue in order to increase funds oriented towards investment.

The forum featured several panels with a focus on "root causes and dangers of illegal migration", "what are the responses to the challenges of illegal migration", "women's diaspora" and “President’s call and support mechanisms for investment projects".

This forum is part of a vision of the President Alassane Ouattara to provide sustainable response to immigration issue and create favorable conditions for emigrants coming back.
